SAMMANFATTNING
This essay is a comparative study of motion verbs in English and Spanish. 30
motion verbs were selected from each one of La Ciudad de las Bestias by
Isabel Allende and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling. They
were then compared with their respective translations, as isolated verbs as
well as in a context, to determine how the use or exclusion of MANNER and to
some extent PATH has been transmitted to the translated texts, and if there
are more divergences from the original in one of the languages. The analysis
showed that the Spanish translation of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
differed somewhat more with regard to detailed descriptions than the English
translation of La Ciudad de las Bestias, but that in most cases, the
translators have managed to stay quite true to the original.
