SUMMARY
The Competitor Intelligence (CI) process is a system that enables companies
to gather information and data, analyse it, and use it to support decision-
making. There is a lot of theory on how to create intelligence, but is it
concordant with how a CI process is performed in practice? This thesis is
aiming to increase the understanding of how a CI process can be
characterised. It was conducted through a qualitative case study of Telia AB
based on a personal interview.
The results from our research showed that the
CI process is less dependent on models and theoretical tools, and more
dependent on imagination and to think freely. Apart from being just a
decision-making support, it also helps raising the self-confidence among
those who use it.
