SUMMARY
This study actualises the importance of what the experiences gained in one project can mean for the efficiency of the next project. Since there is no natural transfer mechanism between projects, because of the their temporary nature, knowledge transfer becomes problematic. The transfer of knowledge between projects is thwarted by a variety of logistical, structural, and cultural barriers that organisations and individuals create. The purpose of the study is to describe barriers to knowledge transfer between projects within a company. The study has been conducted at ABB Power Systems, a large Swedish industrial organisation within the electric power transmission industry. Through visits at the company and by conducting interviews with participants from the projects we have identified barriers to knowledge transfer between projects within ABB Power Systems.
