SAMMANFATTNING
Travel agencies has, the last five years, faced changes in their close
environment that could imply threats against their business. One of the
changes in the progress in the information technology. The other change is
that airline companies have decreased the commission. The focus of this
thesis was to research in what stage in the product lifecycle the product,
travel agencies as intermediaries of airline travel, turn out to be.
In order to answer the main focus, we have also researched: How the travel
agencies handle the change from commission to charge fee instead, and the
travel agencies situation as an intermediary for airline travel. We have
done a case study where we used interviews to collect data. Our conclusion:
They have managed the situation quite well so far. There is nothing that
indicates that the product, travel agencies as intermediaries of airline
travel, looses ground for now.
