SAMMANFATTNING
With improvement in the Internet infrastructure and software, it is becoming easier to conduct business over Internet and e-commerce has become part of out daily routine. The purpose of this thesis is to provide a better understanding of why and how e-procurement is used in a B2B setting. The benefits, risks, and strategies of e-procurement and its emerging usages are analyzed and presented via case studies of four companies in India and Sweden. The findings show that enormous cost savings and efficiencies can be achieved through the utilization of e-procurement. E-procurement enlarges the customer base, broadens the search for suppliers for raw materials, and lowers production costs. The promise is simple: to streamline routines\processes, and help companies consolidate their purchasing practices, enables them to receive better discounts and better service from suppliers. The main results show that direct procurement is heavily dependent upon traditional practices while indirect procurement is more likely to use "e"-practices. Adoption of e-procurement strategies seeks to intensify competitive advantages using the Internet.
